We are looking for a Senior Java Back-end Engineer to help architect, develop, and test the Risk Compute Services that integrates with Domain, Data Platform and Data Science teams.

At PayPal, we work together on small, collaborative teams. We are passionate about code quality and we are constantly – some might say, obsessively ­– finding new ways to perfect our processes and product.

We work closely with our product, Data Store/Access teams, Data Science teams and Domain teams to build, test, and iterate on new solutions to business problems. Our goal is to provide easy to use, scalable, highly reliable and highly performant API’s and services.

Day To Day Responsibilities:

• Lead design and implementation of REST API’s
  
• Ensure all designs and solutions can be extended and reused for future requirements
  
• Influence and mentor peers - not just in the immediate team, but across PayPal
  
• Work with product, project, and engineering teams to deliver products on schedule that solve our customers’ problems
  
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering and QA to resolve bugs
  
• Develop and communicate technical processes, standards, and best practices to the team  
  

Required Technical Skills:

• Expert in Java language

• Proficient in REST, JSON, SQL, and J Unit

• Good grasp of software design and design principles

• Skilled at writing Unit and Automation tests

• B.S. or equivalent degree in Computer Science plus 8 years of industry experience

Desired Technical Skills: 

• Experience with JavaScript/Node.js or Python is desirable

• Knowledge of Machine learning algorithms or Data Science concepts a plus
